مصنف اشفاق احمد کا افسانہ گڈریا ایک لاجواب کہانی ہے۔ کہانی کا آغاز سوئے ہوئے لڑکے کو اٹھا کر اس سے فارسی میں جملہ بنانے کے حوالے سے ہوتا ہے، جس پر لڑکا اپنی بے بسی پر روتا ہے اور یہیں “داؤ جی” ، عرف” ماسٹر جی” ، “منشی چنت رام” کی شخصیت سے تعارف ہوتا ہے۔
ایک ایسے فرد سے تعارف ہوتا ہے، جو ایک شفیق والد، مسکین شوہر، محنتی استاد، شریف انسان اور علم دوست شخص ہے.
اس کے بعد ایک اچھے بچے کا اپنے اردگرد سے تعارف ملتا ہے،گلی، محلے کا پتہ چلتا ہے. “رانو” کے بارے میں معلوم ہوتا ہے جو ایک گوالا ہے، وہ داؤ جی کے محلے میں ہی رہتا ہے اور ان کو زچ کرکے خوشی محسوس کرتا ہے ، ایک ایسا مسلمان جو ہر وہ کام کرتا ہے، جو اسلام میں جائز یا حلال نہیں ہیں۔
بڑے بھائی آفتاب سے داؤ جی کا تعارف تو نہیں ملتا البتہ جھڑکیاں ضرور مل جاتی ہیں. پھر جب مصنف پانچویں میں جاتا ہے تو وہاں اس کی دوستی داؤ جی کے بیٹے “امی چند” سے ہوجاتی ہے. اس میں داؤ جی کے گھر کے دیگر افراد “بے بے” اور” بی بی” سے بھی گاہے بگاہے واقفیت حاصل ہوتی ہے.
افسانہ دلچسپ موڑ جب لیتا ہے جب وہ غیر نصابی مطالعے کی وجہ سے فیل ہو جاتا ہے. جس پر مصنف کے والد محترم” ڈاکٹر صاحب” اس کو “ماسٹر صاحب” کے سپرد کر دیتے ہیں. اس طرح مصنف بوریا بستر سمیت ماسٹر صاحب کے گھر منتقل کر دیے جاتے ہیں.
اس وقت کے تعلیمی نصاب میں” فارسی” “انگریزی” اور “عربی” موجود تھی جن کی تیاری داؤ جی کرواتے ہیں مصنف ساتھ ہی “حساب” میں بھی بھی کافی کمزور ہوتے ہیں.ماسٹر جی دھن کے پکے! اور مصنف کی نصاب میں دلچسپی کافی کم ہوتی ہے.اس میں کہیں کہیں داؤ جی اپنے بارے میں بھی کچھ نہ کچھ بتاتے رہتے ہیں، اس ذکر میں وہ اپنے اساتذہ کا ذکر نہایت عزت و احترام سے کرتے ہیں کہ انہیں ان کے اساتذہ نے گڈریا سے منشی کے مقام پر پہنچا دیا اور اس پر فخر و غرور کے بجائے عاجزانہ رویہ اختیار کرتے ہیں . یہیں یہ بھی معلوم ہوا کہ علم حاصل کرنے کے سلسلے میں داؤ جی نے بہت مشکلات بھی سہیں۔
ایک مسلمان کا ہندو کے گھر رہنا، پڑھنا اور اس معاشرے میں کیا کچھ چل رہا تھا سب کا کچھ نہ کچھ ذکر اس افسانے میں آیا ہے.
اس میں داؤ جی جیسے ایک مختلف، مخلص استاد کا ذکر ہے جو اپنی گزر اوقات کے لئے عرضی نویسی کا کام کر رہا ہوتا ہے. ایک ایسے استاد کا ذکر(حضرت اسماعیل چشتی) جس نے ذات پات، رنگ و نسل، مذہب، قوم سب کے فرق کو مٹاکرعلم بانٹا. ایک ایسے استاد کا بھی ذکر ہے جو نابینا(حکیم ناصر علی سیستانی) تھے، مگر علم کی روشنی رکھتے تھے.اس افسانے میں احساس کے تعلق کو اس قدر مضبوط دیکھایا گیا ہے کہ باوجود اس کے کہانی کار داؤ جی کی بہت سی باتوں سے اختلاف رکھتے تھے مگر کہا کبھی نہیں!
داؤ جی کس طرح ایک ایسے لڑکے کو پڑھاتے ہیں جو پڑھائی میں زیادہ دلچسپی نہیں لیتا، اس دوران وہ بار بار اسے سمجھاتے ہیں، مشق کرواتے ہیں، دن ہو یا رات سبق دھراتے ہیں، ایک ہی بات الگ الگ انداز میں پوچھتے ہیں. اس دوران مصنف قدرے چڑچڑے بھی ہو جاتے ہیں اور نامناسب الفاظ سے نوازتے ہیں،جس پر بعد میں کبھی شرمندہ بھی ہوتے ہیں. مگر داؤ جی برا مانے بغیر اپنے فرض کو ادا کرنے میں لگے رہتے ہیں.داؤ جی کو اس کی صحت کی بھی فکر ہوتی ہے، اسی بناء پر پیار سے کبھی “گولو مولو” ، اور کبھی “موٹا ہو جائے گا” کہہ کر صبح کی سیر کے لئے کہتے ہیں، اور اٹھانے کی کوشش بھی کرتے ہیں. مگر ایک دفعہ کے علاوہ وہ ماسٹر جی کے ساتھ جانے سے توبہ کرلیتا ہے.
اس افسانے میں داؤ جی مسلسل محنت، اور ہمت نہ ہارنے کا کہتے ہیں، مایوسی سے منع کرتے ہیں. داؤ جی کی مسلسل مخلصانہ کوششوں کی بناء پر ایک بہت عام ذہانت رکھنے والا لڑکا آخر کامیاب ہو ہی جاتا ہے.
مصنف آگے پڑھنے کے لئے قصبے سے باہر چلا جاتا ہے، امتحانات کے بعد جب کبھی واپس اپنے قصبے میں آتے ہیں تو داؤ جی کے چنگل سے بچنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں اور بے بے سے زیادہ باتیں کرتے ہیں بنسبت داؤ جی کے، کہ کہیں مبادا وہ پڑھانا نہ شروع کر دیں!
اسی دوران قیام پاکستان کے حوالے سے خبریں ملتی ہیں، گھر والے واپس بلاتے ہیں، اور آخر میں مصنف رانو کے ہاتھوں اپنے استاد کی بے وقعتی ہوتے دیکھتا ہے، مگر کچھ نہیں کر پاتا اور مجمع سے خوفزدہ ہو جاتا ہے. ایک ایسی تحریر جس میں کہیں بے اختیار ہنسی آتی ہے کہیں الفاظ، جملوں کے حوالے سے سیکھنے کو ملتا ہے اور کہیں آنسو بھی دکھائی دیتے ہیں. مگر قیام پاکستان کے بعد جو انجام ایک ہندو استاد کا ہوا. وہ قطعاً اس کے لائق نہیں تھا.
قیام پاکستان کے بعد رانو جیسے کردار منشی جی جیسے لوگوں پر ہاوی ہوگئے اور اب تک ہیں!
